To download an OSU Extension eBook:
- Make sure your device (phone, tablet, computer) has an e-reader app installed.
- On your device, navigate to the OSU Extension Catalog and find the eBook you want to download.
- Depending on your device and app, your e-reader may save and open the eBook automatically, or you may be asked where you want to save the eBook or which app you want to use to open it.
Where to download e-reader apps
Some OSU Extension publications are available as eBooks in the .epub file format, which can be read on most mobile devices equipped with an e-reader application ("app").
There are many free e-reader apps available for Apple, Android, Microsoft, and other mobile devices. You can find these through the Mac App Store, in Google Play, the Windows Store, and online. Examples include Apple iBooks, Google Play Books, and Aldiko.
Not compatible with Kindle
OSU Extension eBooks are not compatible with Kindle devices, which use the .mobi file format, but can be read on the Nook and other e-reader devices.
Read an eBook on your computer
You can also read an eBook on your desktop or laptop computer if you install an e-reader app. Free e-reader apps for computers are available online. Some Internet browsers, such as Firefox, offer e-reader add-ons that allow you to read eBooks directly in your browser.
Learn more
Most e-reader apps will provide help text or instructions to help you learn how to download and open eBooks and use other features in the app.
